The Little Fat Greek

Developer: PlugHugger

The Little Fat Greek is the second soundset in a our new series of soundsets for Omnisphere 2, where our concept is simple to focus on one cool synthesizer, sample it to bits and recreate its characteristics in Omnisphere, and also take it into new directions that would never be possible with the original hardware. Named after a deity in Greek mythology who is the personification of darkness, the Erebus is a small oddly looking box which is nothing else than a damn fine synthesizer from Greek synthmakers Dreadbox. The Erebus can best be described as a monphonic analog synthesizer, with a gorgeous filter and tone and a quirky character.

named after the greek god of darkness erebus is a synth with a dark and unique character

We sampled over 40 aspects of the Erebus and threw them into Omnisphere, where we turned them into sounds that could never be done with the original. Polyphonic. Pads. Sequences. Drums. Dark and Big stuff. Big stuff you say? How big? Pretty darn big actually. Apart from 170+ single presets, we combined another 50 sounds into complex multisounds. The Little Fat Greek contains 221 sounds in the following categories:

  • Bass Arpeggios/Sequences: 15

  • Lead Arpeggios/Sequences: 15

  • Drum sounds: 15

  • FX sounds: 7

  • Pads / Synth strings: 30

  • Bass sounds: 30

  • Synth sounds: 43

  • Textures and soundscapes: 16

  • Multi sounds: 50

As an extra bonus for all sound designers, we also included 42 ready-to-use INIT patches for all new waveforms.
