Northern Impakt V1 is an immersive sound journey that blends the raw beauty of the natural world with cutting-edge sound design. Co-created by Jason Schoepfer (Rocky Mountain Sounds) and John “PlugInGuru” Lehmkuhl, this expansive collection features over 600 patches and multis built from 331 custom soundsources — many of which were captured from the frozen wilds of Canada to the rainy streets of Portland.
At its core, Northern Impakt is a collision of found sound and transformative audio wizardry. You'll hear ice cracking in a kitchen sink, cars splashing down wet roads, barking dogs, foil balloons, and even children’s toy instruments, all recorded with pristine detail on location. Then, through tools like Zynaptiq Wormhole, Space Designer, and GrainSpace, these sounds were sculpted into shimmering pads, evolving textures, haunting impacts, rhythmic pulses, and cinematic atmospheres.
To push the creative potential further, the library features contributions from 14 renowned programmers around the world, including members of the European Sound Collective (ESC). This global collaboration ensures a diverse range of styles, from ambient to experimental, lo-fi to cinematic — all unified by a shared fascination with the unexpected beauty of real-world sound.
